15TH AVE STREET LIGHTING UPGRADE

Location: Prince George, BC
Scope: Lighting Upgrade

Project Owner: City of Prince George

Prime Contractor: K2 Electric Ltd.

Contract Durations: 6 Months

Project Value: $700K

K2 Electric was contracted by the City of Prince George as Prime Contractor to deliver the 15th Avenue Street Lighting Upgrade, a major infrastructure improvement project along one of the city’s busiest transportation corridors. The work involved the removal of aging lighting infrastructure and installation of new streetlight standards, conduit systems, and BC Hydro electrical services along the 15th Avenue corridor. Construction was carefully phased to maintain lighting availability, minimize disruptions to traffic and businesses, and coordinate with public transit infrastructure, pedestrian crossings, and multiple utility crossings throughout the project area.

K2 Electric managed all aspects of project delivery including construction planning, traffic control coordination, material procurement, and field execution. Utilizing a combination of mechanical excavation, directional drilling, and hydrovac services, the project team installed new lighting infrastructure while navigating complex underground utilities and maintaining safe public access through an active commercial corridor. Through detailed scheduling and coordination with the City of Prince George, BC Hydro, FortisBC, and local stakeholders, the project was successfully delivered while maintaining continuous service levels and minimizing impacts to the surrounding community.
